A hundred, thousand thank yous to our fantastic helpers today – Ruth, Angela, Claire, Rachel, David, Andy and all the riders & spectators who helped with course building, stewarding, poo picking, gate opening and course clearing. It made today a pleasure to run and meant we were able to leave the venue at 4.15!
We don’t yet have a final figure for the overall amount raised for Mind, but it is in the region of £180 – thank you to Ruth for baking lots of lovely buns and to everyone who rode and donated. The 2kg of Hilton Herballs, kindly donated by Hilton Herbs, was won by Jane Maddison who guessed closest to the total number of treats in the tub.

Class 1 in hand was won by Kirsty Collinson with her youngster Earnwell Comet at his first ever TREC competition. Class 2 unaffiliated starter was won by Emily Ferguson and Cumbria Black Kareem who tied on points with Christine Freear and Bluebank Ringo, but Kareem had one more 10-point obstacle to his name! Sarah Appleby and Kernow Sasparilla (Monkey to his friends) aced both the TREC GB novice rider and TREC GB novice horse classes so will be moving up to intermediate next year. Take your own line was won by Fiona Newboult on Prince with a great score of 141 in 4 minutes. The winner of the TREC GB intermediate was Ian Macalindin with Cleo who he has only been riding for a year and the TREC GB open class was won by Anne Howkins on Coals Dee Olena, a very effective Western partnership.
Well done to all riders, hope you had a great day! Our next competitions are 19 February at Thornton House nr York (enter here) and 5 March at Golden Valley EC nr Alfreton (entries will open soon).
