Firstly a Happy New Year to all our members!
We have a busy year planned, so this is a full newsletter. Finally with the start of a new year the amazing amount of work that has been done by TREC GB volunteers, club members and riders to sustain the sport we all participate in is beginning to come together. I on behalf of the club would like to congratulate them and in my term of office I am determined that as a club we support TREC GB and develop the sport to its rightful place in the equestrian world.
If you have anything that you would like to see in the newsletter in future, please email me firstname.lastname@example.org
Committee & general membership matters
Firstly, in case you haven’t seen the news on the club website – following November’s well-attended AGM the committee members who will be taking the club forward in 2015 are:
Chairperson: Paula Bean – Trec GB Board deputy, Treasurer: Joy Bradley, Secretary: Caroline Ashmore, Vice Chair & Webmaster: Evie O’Keeffe
Training: Ruth O’Keeffe. Other committee members are Dave Rogerson – Trec GB Board member, Fiona Thurnell, Jane O’Shea, Marie Spillane, Marion Hayes & Sarah Thurnell.
Thank you to all who have renewed on time. Please could we ask those of you who pay by standing order to remember to check that the correct payment of £22 is being taken from your bank, as some standing orders are incorrect. Your membership will only be valid if you have fully paid for the year.
At present, the club is affiliated to TREC GB and British Riding Clubs. If you join Trec GB and nominate White Horse TREC Group as your Club £10 will be returned to the Club which in turn will be refunded to you. This will probably be done on a quarterly basis by TREC GB so our refunds will follow suit.
The new WHTG training officer is Ruth O’Keeffe, and with Evie’s help she will be running regular training through 2015 to increase participation in the sport and help members to gain confidence to move up through the levels.
The intention is to make it very good value for club members, eg on 31 January we are running PTV & paces sessions for 75 minutes with both Evie and Ruth on hand and maximum of 4 riders per session (effectively semi private training) which is only £10 for members. At present this event is full, so given the popularity it will be run again soon.
Sunday 8 March will see a TREC Training & Taster Day held at Yorkshire Riding Centre, Markington, Nr Harrogate, HG3 3PE . This event will be run in conjunction with BHS North West. Full details & booking form will be on the website soon.
A further training day for all phases will be run on Saturday 28 March when we hope the weather will be a little better! Booking form & more details.
Once we have firm dates for the year’s competitions then further training days will be planned including map reading on an actual level one route, grids/bearings, and more PTV/paces. Most of these will be run near Wakefield which is relatively central within the WHTG area. If you have a venue in mind elsewhere with a captive audience for some training then please let Evie know on Evie@white-horse-trec.co.uk and she will put you in touch with a local trainer.
The schedules are out now for the final two competitions in the WHTG Winter League:
