Parking – please park according to the venue map above,  and leave the hard standing as you find it – please bring a shovel or gloves & old feed sack/trug to take home your horse’s manure.

Helpers – due to a lack of volunteers we are running this event with the bare minimum of help – Ruth & Rachel will be judging all day, Claire will be doing all the adding up and Evie will be doing everything else – prizegiving, answering questions and running the fundraising. If you have some time spare between classes, please offer to steward the warm-up arena or get some refreshments for the judges. Your assistance in swapping flags around between the starter & novice at 10.55, or TYOL & intermediate at 14.45, or clearing the arena at the end of the day would be greatly appreciated too!

Cafe – the owners have kindly agreed to open the cafe for this event so please bring some cash with you to support it, it is in the building on the left as you are walking between the car park and the arena. Presentation of rosettes & scoresheets will take place in here approximately 15 minutes after the end of each class and there’ll be a few fun activities to win prizes & raise a bit more money for MIND while you wait.

Queries – please direct all queries to Evie, not to Ruth & Rachel the marvellous judges or Claire the wonderful, but unhorsey, adder-upper. If you have problems on the day or need to withdraw please call 07939 471564.

Important notes

  • We are not using number bibs so please tell the judges your name on entry.
  • Competitors & spectators are not permitted in the livery stable areas.
  • When walking/riding between car park and arena please be aware of moving vehicles, both horseboxes arriving/leaving and liveries in their cars may cross your path.
  • When entering/exiting the warm up please pass left to left on the lane.
  • No more than 5 horses in the warm up arena at once.
  • Please use green (novice/young) or red (kicker) tail ribbons as appropriate for your horse, and please give plenty of space to any horse wearing a ribbon.
  • Start times, course maps and obstacle lists will be displayed at the entrance to the arena.
  • All profits from this event will go to Mind, the mental  health charity.
  • Hilton Herbs have kindly sponsored one of the prizes, and there are lots of tasty herballs on offer!

Things to bear in mind for the classes:

  • The TREC GB rulebook is available to download for free here
  • Competitors in the affiliated classes cannot be given any assistance by the judges on the course, but all classes are based on a simple figure of 8 shape.
  • If you want to miss an obstacle out you must ride up to it, halt and tell the judge that you won’t be attempting it.
  • Circling at any point before an obstacle counts as an effectiveness fault.
  • Red flags on your right & white flags on your left.
  • For all affiliated classes, the start of the timed PTV (obstacles) section is the end of the paces corridor.
  • If you are struggling to complete an obstacle, move on to the next otherwise you risk running out of time.
  • If you run out of time before completing all the obstacles, the judges will shout ‘time’ and you should then leave the arena (novice) or proceed to the walk (int/open). If you have started an obstacle when the time is up you will be allowed to finish it.

Happy New Year 2017!

No need to hibernate, the club has lots of great events arranged but we need your entries! Our fun map reading on foot with pub lunch on 22 January but will be cancelled if we do not receive more entries by 15 January, just £5 for WHTG members. The Arena TREC competitions at Aldham Mill and Thornton House are accepting entries via EQUO and post. Start times and schedules are ready!

Start times are now available for Moorhouse Arena TREC Competition on 17 December. Moorhouse start times here   We have also added the schedule for the Thornton House Arena TREC competition on 19 February.  Don’t forget entries are still open for the Aldham Mill competition in January, see our Events page for details. As always the organisers would welcome offers of help at these events, please don’t be shy and do volunteer to lend a hand, the schedules contain the contact details for each date.

Moorhouse Arena TREC competition on 17 December is filling up fast, entries close soon so don’t delay if you haven’t already sent yours! The club has arranged several exciting events for early 2017, see our Events page for full details.  Aldham Mill Arena TREC has been rearranged to 29 January and entries are still open.  February sees us returning to the popular Thornton House Farm in North Yorkshire, and we move to Derbyshire to a fabulous new venue on 5 March for Arena TREC at Golden Valley Equestrian Centre.  In addition there are several training dates planned too.

The annual TREC GB Award will be presented in January, with WHTG nominated in several categories. Please vote for Bulcote and Prestwold!  Voting closes 19 December so please visit the TREC GB website to register your vote today.

Our AGM was held in the cosy snug of the Kings Arms, with positive reports from our Treasurer Joy and secretary Caroline.  Outgoing Chair Evie O’Keeffe swapped roles with Vice-Chair Sarah Thurnell, who returns to the hot seat after a few years behind the scenes. There were lots of great suggestions from members for 2017, and the club is looking forward to a successful year, supported by our wonderful volunteers and loyal members.  If you have any feedback or suggestions please do get in touch by emailing info@white-horse-trec.co.uk.  We also have a club page on Facebook and Twitter, so don’t be shy please contact us!

Milton results & next events

Thank you to everyone who came to help at Milton EC last weekend, to kick off our winter season in style! Well done to all competitors.

If you’ve been inspired to give it a try, or want another go at a different course, the next event is on 19 November at Aldham Mill Farm Livery, near Barnsley. This event will be a fundraiser for MIND. You can enter online on Equo or send a cheque with the entry form at the end of the schedule.

10am on-foot practical map reading training & practice, free for members, 1pm pub lunch (sadly not free!), 2pm AGM. Please email evie@white-horse-trec.co.uk if you intend to come so that we can book a bigger room if needed – everyone welcome for the whole day or whichever bits suit you.
We are looking for more committee members to help with putting on events all around our area, for a new club chairperson as Evie will be stepping down, and for people to join our online team – responsible for updating the club website (wordpress), online entry system (equo) and the facebook page – you will be shown how these all work, none are very technical. Please come along and volunteer your skills, time and passion to help this club and the sport of TREC in Yorkshire & East Midlands to thrive.
